Dakota Meyer
Dakota Meyer is a distinguished United States Marine and Medal of Honor recipient, recognized for his extraordinary valor during the Battle of Ganjgal on September 8, 2009, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. His courageous actions during that harrowing engagement earned him the highest military decoration in the United States, making him the second-youngest living Medal of Honor recipient, the third living recipient from the Iraq or Afghanistan wars, and the first living Marine to receive this honor in 38 years. In addition to the Medal of Honor, Dakota’s military service is marked by other significant decorations, including the Purple Heart, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat “V” device for valor, and two Combat Action Ribbons. Since leaving active duty, Dakota has continued to dedicate himself to service and leadership in both professional and personal arenas. He has earned the Medal of Valor for his bravery as a firefighter, exemplifying his unwavering commitment to protecting others.
